Halloween Fun

I took Megan Trick-or-Treating in our neighborhood while Mattey slept and Kelly gave out candy to all of twelve kids. We came back and picked up Mattey and Kelly and went out to a few more houses before going out to eat at KFC. After a stop to see Nana and Papa, we headed home for some family fun. We had some Snazaroo face paint at home and Megan wanted to be the HULK. Then Mattey wanted something, and it just became a face painting night. Fun stuff!

Wishing everyone a Happy and safe Halloween! Here is an interesting article on the origins and customs of All Hallows Eve. Don’t eat too much candy.

Happy Couple?

My parents dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf for a recent youth dance at church. And I always thought Little Red Riding Hood was trying to get away from the Wolf.

“But Grandmother! What big ears you have,” said Little Red Riding Hood as she edged closer to the bed.
“The better to hear you with, my dear,” replied the wolf.

“But Grandmother! What big eyes you have,” said Little Red Riding Hood.

“The better to see you with, my dear,” replied the wolf.

“But Grandmother! What big teeth you have,” said Little Red Riding Hood her voice quivering slightly.

“The better to eat you with, my dear,” roared the wolf and he lept out of the bed and began to chase the little girl.

Pumpkin Carving

Last night we carved the pumpkins that the girls picked at the pumpkin patch. Mattey and Megan helped by cleaning out the inside of the pumpkins. Here are a few pictures of the fun we had.

Sunday’s Party

After church, we went to the Hancz’s house to celebrate Corey and Brendan’s birthday. Corey turned 3 on the 25th and Brendan will be turning 9 on Halloween. We stayed, for a while, after everyone had left and let the kids play. They had a lot of fun.

Saturday’s Fun

Megan scored a goal at her last soccer game, of the Fall season. It was a very cold day, but Megan enjoyed it. Her coach gave her a patch and a medal for participating. Megan was very excited about her “gold medal”.

Kelly made Lasagna and rolls and we took dinner to Grandpa and Grandma Freimund. We ate and then Grandma and Kelly beat Grandpa and me in Pinochle, three games to one. It was never even close. We had a great time!

Friday’s Adventure

Oct 25th, 2003 Posted in Family | no comment »

Yesterday, after work, we took a small road trip to Michigan City. The initial reason was to pick up a few games from Toys R Us, that our local store didn’t have in stock. Then we headed for the Outlet Mall. We had a great time walking around and looking at all the different stores. It seemed rather empty, for a Friday night, maybe the result of the off and on little bits of rain. We found many bargains, especially in the OshKosh store, where we saved 70% on almost everything we bought. We found Christmas dresses for the girls, a couple shirts for Mattey, and then Megan cleaned up with a couple of different outfits. Kelly found most of her bargains in the Eddie Bauer store and a couple at the GAP.

After a long night of shopping, we stopped to eat at a place called Shoops. It looked like a 50’s style diner that sold hamburgers. As we walked into the place all you could smell was smoke, so we promptly turned around and headed back up the road to Applebee’s. We were seated immediately, great for a Friday night, but then had to wait quite a while to get our food. Luckily the wait was worth it and the girls behaved very well. I never knew that Applebee’s made such a good burger and shake.

The drive home was just as nice as the rest of the night. Both girls fell asleep allowing Kelly and I to talk with each other without constant interruptions.

Unrealistic Goals

I took the day off from work today to try and finish a couple of home projects. One was to finish the new floor I was installing in the bathroom. That project is still about two full tiles away from being finished, and one of them will take a lot of trial and error to get right (It goes around the toilet). The other project I just started this morning, and that was to put new gutters on our house. It has been about 5 or 6 years since we have had downspouts, so it was long over due. I bought vinyl gutters, at Home Depot, and they are very nice to work with. I was able to finish almost the entire front of the house, except for one of the downspouts. I still have the back and its 60 feet of gutter to go. Hopefully we’ll get a couple more days of decent weather!

Cheap Dog Toy

The other day we emptied, or almost emptied, a jar of JIF peanut butter. Kelly gave the jar to Cooper and he worked on it for about an hour trying to get all the peanut butter out.

Filler Item

I can’t allow this to go on any longer. I haven’t posted a news item in almost two weeks.

We had a new furnace and air conditioner installed this week. The company who did the work was Gnoth and Naragon Heating & Air Conditioning. They did an exceptional job and the fact that they were able to do our installation only five days after giving us an estimate, was amazing.

Mattey and Megan both had dental appointments this week, and both successfully had all their dental work completed. This has been a long road for Megan but she is finally done. Mattey was a little apprehensive but she came through with flying colors.
