Monday Night Fun

Mar 30th, 2004 Posted in Family | 7 comments »

Grandma and Grandpa joined us for dinner at Famous Dave’s last night (Kids eat free on Monday and Tuesday nights).  We had some good food, as usual and Grandma took this great picture with her new HP digital camera.

Afterwards the girls got to go for a ride in Grandpa’s new Mazda truck.  It’s an extended cab with two tiny little jump seats, which are just about big enough for the girls only.

Then we moved on to the real driving.  We all took part in some four player Mario Kart racing.  Even though they tried their hardest, which included getting Mattey to climb all over me while I was driving, I still came through undefeated for the night.  Hey Princess, fallen off any bridges lately?  :-)

Happy 19th Birthday Amanda!

Just wanted to post a quick message to tell my Sister to have a great Birthday!  She’s had a busy year at Saint Mary’s and I think is really enjoying the college life.  We’ll miss her next year while she’s at BYU - Idaho.

Today marks the one year anniversary of this website.  Hopefully it has been fun and informing to all friends and family who have visited.

First Day of Spring

Today is the first day of Spring and hopefully it will be the start of some nicer weather.  A quote from the Education World website says, “The Vernal Equinox is one of the four great seasonal changes every year. Day and night are equal, and the changing weather can lift the spirits of young — and old — alike”.

Anyone up for some Spring Cleaning?

Her First Card Game

Mar 18th, 2004 Posted in Family | 3 comments »

Megan has learned her first real card game.  She loves to play Uno.  We bought a collection of Dora games from Kohl’s and one of the games included was a slimmed down version of Uno.  After she had that down pat, we decided it was time to introduce the real thing.  We broke out the Special Edition Uno and now our family will never be the same.

We have a lot of fun and it gives us some good family time.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

What do we know about St. Patrick’s Day?  Green, green, green.  Well there is more to it than that, and you can learn about it here.

Do you like green eggs and ham?

I do not like them, Sam-I-am.
I do not like green eggs and ham.

Megan likes green eggs and ham, she had them a couple of weeks ago at a Dr. Seuss party at school.

Hope you all remembered to wear your green today.

Our Cruise

Mar 7th, 2004 Posted in Family | 2 comments »

Kelly and I (and no I didn’t forget to mention the girls) just returned from a five-day cruise to the Bahamas on the Royal Caribbean ship, the Sovereign of the Seas.  Now no laughing, but the actual purpose for the cruise was training for my job.  It was a PHP conference held on the ship in two of their theaters.

Here is a map of the course our ship took:

We had a wonderful time together!  Every night we tried to attend at least one of the offered entertainment options.  Here is a list of some of the things we saw:

  • Karaoke and a hilarious comedian
  • Various Broadway songs performed by the Royal Caribbean singers and dancers

  • Juggler/Dancer/Comedian
  • Flashback songs performed by the Royal Caribbean singers and dancers

We also stopped at two different Bahamian islands, CocoCay and the capital city of Nassau.  CocoCay is a private island run by Royal Caribbean and we enjoyed a BBQ on the beach, some shopping, and a guided tour aboard a WaveRunner.  On Nassau we took a guided tour of some of the old (1700’s) forts and then toured the Pirate museum.  We also experienced the Bahamian Straw Market, which if you can’t say no don’t ever go there.

On Friday, we took a VIP tour of Kennedy Space Center.  This was a fantastic tour and we were super surprised to meet up with Kelly’s parents, who were on their own vacation to Florida.

Special thanks to my parents who used almost all of their energy while taking great care of our girls.  The girls really enjoyed their time with Grandma and Grandpa.
