Oh What a Night

Friday night (and then Saturday morning) we spent some time at the Cove with people from my Mom's work.  Her boss bought us all tickets to the 7:00pm Silver Hawks baseball game, which also was followed by a firework show.

We arrived about 8:15, thinking that the girls would not be able to sit through a whole baseball game waiting for the fireworks.  The girls did very well as we watched the game.  Mattey like to dance in the aisle while Megan was really into cheering and yelling "Charge" every time the organ played the appropriate tune.

It looked like we had orchestrated a great plan as the top of the ninth inning rolled around quickly and the home team was up by one.  Three more outs and we would be enjoying a great firework show.  That's when our plan fell apart.  The visiting team scored a run to tie the game, the home team didn't score in the bottom of the ninth, and then nobody scored for another nine innings.  Yes, we sat and waited until the completion of the eighteen inning game so that we could enjoy some fireworks.

It was worth the wait.  The fireworks were great and the girls really enjoyed them.  Well Mattey loved the colors but she sat with hands covering her ears most of the time.

Very large pictures are available in the Photo Gallery. The Photo Gallery is a work in progress. It's looking better than it did (meaning the pages now look like the rest of the website) but I'm having some technical frustrations with it.

I was so relieved after people started leaving and I could move up a row and have more room. I want to thank Mattey for making me get up a dozen times for some reason or another, I would not have made it through without her. I have to agree the fireworks were great. I did have some debris fall on me though but I wasn't hurt, just startled.
