Maybe That Wasn't Such a Good Idea

In one of my prior posts, I was talking about how we had learned to play Canasta at a friend's house and how we should add this game to our collection. Well we did and now I’m wishing we didn’t. I thought I was pretty good at learning different card games and picking up their different strategies. Obviously I was wrong, because I have yet to win the stinking game. I am 0 for 2 when playing with a partner and after last night I am 0 for 3 when playing against my wife. She has the uncanny knack of getting a lot of points and leaving me stuck with a bunch of cards in my hand, which is not good.

I will not give up, although it gets rather depressing at times, I will triumph. I’m just not sure when that will be.

Sweetie, I'm so sorry that you keep losing. I have not had so much fun playing a game before, well maybe Monopoly but you won't play that with me anymore. I can't tell if my stategy is better or if it's mainly luck of the draw. Anyway, I'm glad that you keep trying. You did have one good hand last night. By the way, you are 0 for 3 with a partner, remember we played two games the second night. At least I can practice being a good winner. I must say that you are a good loser, you keep coming back for more. I love you, your Canasta Queen.

I finally made it over the hump. I actually won a Canasta game last night! Now I will have the strength to endure a few more losses.

I'm so proud of you for hanging in there and finally winning a game. I'm not saying anything about either of our stategies but I really think there is some luck to winning because if you can't get a wild card when you need it it's more difficult to win. I'm waiting for our next game. :-)
