A Happy Anniversary

Kelly and I celebrated our twelfth anniversary on Saturday by taking a small day trip to Chicago.  Grandma and Grandpa were nice (and brave) enough to keep the girls while we brought Kaden along for the ride.  We had a very nice (and quiet) trip there, with only one little blood pressure rising situation.  We had one of those close encounters with a car accident and it caused our hearts to speed up for a little while, but the rest of the drive was uneventful.

We found our normal parking lot (what a rip off) and headed out to Michigan Avenue.  Our first stop was Niketown to look for some comfortable casual shoes.  While we were in the store the weather took a huge turn for the worse.  The skies darkened, the wind picked up, and then the rain let loose.  It was nasty.  Kelly asked whose great idea it was to come to Chicago.  We decided to wait it out in Niketown and we actually didn't spend too much extra time in the store before the rain stopped.  As we stepped out on to the sidewalks again, the sky was still dark but otherwise it was fine.  By the time we got out of the next couple stores, the sky was as blue as could be.  Crazy weather!

The American Girl store was insane!  We had to check it out since both girls are kind of into them.  You could spend an entire afternoon in there and a small fortune.  The Apple store was, well as cool as usual.  We even sat in on a little demonstration of the new operating system, Tiger.  I made my first trip into a CompUSA store.  I always read about their great deals but I'd never been in the store before.

PF Changs was our choice for dinner and what a good choice that turned out to be. It was around 6:00 and I was worried about getting a seat, but I forgot we were in a big city where most people eat much later. We got right in and it didn't take long before we were enjoying our meals. Kelly had the Sweet and Sour Chicken and I had Chang's Spicy Chicken. The manager came around and asked us how our meal was and I told him it made a great anniversary dinner. He then insisted on buying us dessert. I was already completely stuffed but when they brought out this warm cinnamon cookie topped with a big scoop of ice cream, I somehow made some room. Wow, that was one awesome dessert!

It was great just spending a day with my Sweetheart.

So glad you had a great time. We did too, even though it was way too hot at the ballpark. We love our kids and grandkids so much, it was worth it.

And we appreciate the sacrifice! It's much easier to leave your kids when you know they are in good hands.

Mickey forgot to say that we went to Pottery Barn too. I could have spent a fortune in that store. I'm glad that I'm not the only one. Mickey loved their leather chairs and couches. They were comfy! It's been a good 12 years. Love you Sweetie!
