President Hinckley said: "We have been counseled again and again concerning self-reliance, concerning debt, concerning thrift. So many of our people are heavily in debt for things that are not entirely necessary. . . . I urge you as members of this Church to get free of debt where possible and to have a little laid aside against a rainy day."

Today I took Kade in for his 15 month check up. Thankfully he only needed one shot, unlike Mattey who will be getting mulitple shots tomorrow. Kade weighed in at 24 lbs. 3 oz. I was sure he was over 25 pounds. He is such a load to haul around. His height is 32.5 inches. He's grown 2 1/2 inches and a little over 1 pound since the beginning of April. I can handle that. Not too fast. Other updates on Kade, he is getting a lot more teeth. Last month he worked on his molars but only 3 of the 4 came in. Now the fourth molar and the 4 cuspids are coming in. Ouch! He is also sleeping in his own bed for most of the night. He is still waking up but he goes right back to sleep, usually without a fuss. Kade is climbing up everywhere and getting into everything. His new thing is to take the cushions off the couch. He will sit in the cushions spot shaking his head not letting me put it back. Kade is funny, entertaining, and always on the go. He will soon be 16 months old. Where has the time gone?

I just got a phone call from our reception desk and they told me that I had a cookie basket delivered to me. The first thing I did was to check the date on my watch, trying to figure out what the special occasion might be. On my way over to pick it up I was sure that they were mistaken and that it really belonged to someone else because I couldn’t imagine why I was receiving a cookie basket. To my surprise it definitely had my name on it and the card attached said, “Because you’re always there when we need you and you never let us down. Enjoy!” It was signed, “Communications Team.” This is a group of individuals that request a lot of last minute updates to our website. I always try to squeeze their request in regardless of what I have going on.
The cookie basket came from Cookies By Design and it has three different computer cookies with different things on their monitors and a big thank you cookie in the middle. I can’t wait to show my family and then dig into it.
Feeling appreciated at work, I think, is something very hard to come by. Sometimes all it takes is saying thank you, but other times I think it helps to do something a little more. This is an excellent example of someone going above and beyond to make me feel appreciated. What a great surprise on a stormy Thursday morning!

Yesterday Megan went to Dr. Wong’s office to have her braces put on. She had to have them put on the top teeth only to correct her under bite. The doctor is pretty confident that the braces should be able to correct her bite within six months. Megan was extremely brave during this procedure; she even said it didn’t hurt at all when they were putting them on. I know it’s only been one day, but she has been extremely good about all the extra dental care that needs to be done when you have braces. A little later in the day the brackets on her back teeth were irritating her cheek, and she said her teeth hurt a little bit but she never complained about it. Good job Meg!
This is also the first picture that I am posting from my new Flickr Pro account. You can see the rest of the pictures from this set by clicking here. If you don't have a Flickr account (the basic ones are free) you can view the photos but you won't be able to comment on them. There are some really neat features that Flickr will add to our photos and I'll have to outline those in a future post.

Arriving at work this morning I saw a card sitting on my desk. It was a Happy Anniversary card from our Human Resources department. It's hard to believe that it has been 16 years since I started working at Press Ganey. There have been many employees who have come and gone in the many years since I have been here and currently there are only four other employees who have worked for PG longer than I have. I feel blessed to have stumbled upon a job, which turned into a career, and has provided our family with all its needs and many of its wants.
