Five Years Later

I feel like taking a few minutes to pay my respect to all those innocent people who lost their lives 5 years ago today. 9/11 changed so many things in our country, and in our world. This is one of those days where I actually remember exactly what I was doing when these events happened. I was at work when the first plane crashed into the World Trade Center tower. The word started spreading through out the office as people tried to get access to news site on the Internet. The overwhelming amount of traffic on the Internet that day brought the news servers to their knees. Groups of solemn people gathered around radios or any other type of media we could get access to as the rest of the terrifying and horrific events took place. I remember walking outside and just looking up into the sky and wondering how anything like that could happen.

I'm thankful for the freedoms that we enjoy in this great country and for those who fight to protect it everyday. Today I reflect on the great loss of that day but also remember those who were so heroic and the feeling of pride that was brought out in all Americans.
