Happy Birthday Dad!

Yesterday was my Dad's birthday and we got a chance to celebrate with him for a little while. Kelly made him a "Death by Chocolate" cake and we stopped and picked up some Papa John's pizza and breadsticks before going over to my parents house. One of the reasons for getting Papa John's was to support the girls' school which was having a fund raiser and Papa John's was donating 20% of the order price to their school.

We had dinner, a birthday singing, some cake and chatted for a little bit while the kids played outside and with the water. Somehow Kade ended up being all wet and Megan was apologizing but I'm not sure what exactly happened there. It ended up being a Barnes and Noble birthday for my Dad as we got him a gift card as his present and my sister had the same idea as well. Guess he'll be doing some book shopping in the near future. Megan wants to go too because she got the same present from Tia also.

Hope the big birthday bash up at the range was all it was cracked up to be! :-)

A BIG thanks Mickey, Kelly, Meg, Mat, & Kade for coming over and helping us celebrate my birthday. I'm hoping that it's a slow "death by chocolate" because I'm only eating one piece of cake a day.

The Big Bash at the range was luckily only a small bash and we settled everyones concerns. But it still took a couple of hours to get through it.

"Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ... WOW ... What a Ride !!!"

I think I would like to end up pretty on the outside but totally worn out on the inside. Wait, I'm already there. :-)
Here's the recipe to the Death-By-Chocolate Cake:
3/4 cup sour cream
4 eggs
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup oil (I used applesauce)
1 chocolate cake mix (Duncan Hines of course)
1 small box instant chocolate pudding
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (I found mini ones, so cute)
powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350.
Beat sour cream, eggs, water, and oil together in a large bowl until thoroughly mixed. Add cake mix and pudding mix. Stir in chocolate chips. Place batter in a greased and floured bundt pan.
Bake 45-55 minutes, or until fork inserted into cake comes our clean.
While still hot, invert cake onto a serving platter. When cool, sift powdered sugar over top of cake.
