The Kid in Me

My friend at work sent me this link today in IM. He said, "this is what I want when I grow up." You may have to have been a product of this time frame to appreciate what this person has created. I spent a LOT of time in arcades like these growing up, dropping in my quarters (now I think it's more like dollars) and using as much body english as possible to help move my character on the screen. With the video game consoles that are available today, in your own home (I think I know a little something about this), I'm sure less and less kids will know the experiences of playing in arcades. Peter Hirschberg has come up with a way to keep that spirit alive, well at least at his house. I love this quote:

Good: Collecting 65 classic arcade games.

Great: Building a private 2,400 square foot arcade with black lights and 80's soundtrack.

Awesome: Your kids leave it alone because they want to play Wii

I can't believe you posted this while at work. Do you ever actually work? I'm sure it would be a dream for you to have your own arcade but it's not in the budget and I don't think it ever will be.

Hey, everyone deserves a few minutes of break time here and there. Besides I had two different software releases this week that required me to work at home(after my "normal" working hours), so I think the trade off is fair. Let's get back to talking about the arcade and less about my working environment.

I'm sorry, I know you work hard. I have seen you work the last few nights. I hope PG appreciates it. I'm glad you can do it from home instead of going in.
