Guess how much I spent on these five books?
If you look closely you can see the store price in the little white rectangle on the spine. That is no where near what I spent for all of them. Drum roll please……$1.25 was my total! Can you believe it? The books are almost new too. I got them from the library’s sale section. I’ve never done that before. I just read this series (The Aurora Teagarden Mysteries) and enjoyed it. The down side is that I have to buy the missing three from the series. But when you factor in the $1.25 for the other five I still got a great bargain.
So speaking of the library….We got a new one and it’s awesome! I was a little upset that the county was wasting money on a new library when they could have spent a lot less and just replaced the roof but after seeing the new one I’m very happy with the decision. (Like it was really up to me.) I keep forgetting to take the camera when we go. Maybe someday I’ll remember.
I have been reading a ton this year. So much so that, prepare yourself, I don’t even watch television anymore. (An occasional movie like while I sew and workout or for family movie night. On a rare night Mickey and I will watch one after the kids go to bed.) The only bad thing is sometimes, alright a lot of times, I don’t want to put the book down and be in the real world. I’m always putting things off that need to be done. I’ll have to work at rewarding my work with a book instead of starting my day with a book.
I’ve had a running list of books I want to read and books I’ve already read (meaning they’re checked off on the want to read list). I am currently reading my 85th book for this year.
Here’s a list of books that I recommend. A lot of them are teen books. I was hoping to find some “clean” reading but surprisingly some of the teen stuff I’ve read has been worse than the grown-up stuff. I haven’t recommended anything that’s not fairly “clean”.
Anything by Dan Brown. He’s got a new one coming out on Meg’s birthday. Yippee.

Pushing Up Daisies by Rosemary Harris (I’m reading the sequel, The Big Dirt Nap, right now)
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (the sequel, Catching Fire, comes out on Sept. 1st - can’t wait)
The Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray (A Great and Terrible Beauty, Rebel Angels, & The Sweet Far Thing) I didn’t like part of the ending but what can I do?
The Summoning & The Awakening by Kelley Armstrong (The Reckoning comes out May 2010 - can’t wait to see what happens there.)
The Lost Books by Ted Dekker (He’s got a few others that complete the circle as he says but I’ve yet to read them.)
And I’ve loved pretty much everything Nicholas Sparks has written. He has made my laugh and cry, several times. He also has a new one coming out on Mickey’s birthday.
Need by Carrie Jones, it feels like Twilight (with a few changes) but without all the details and no vampires.
And I can’t forget the books that started me on my year of reading. The Twilight Saga by Stephanie Meyers. I also like The Host.
That’s about it for now. I still have a few dozen more books on my list but I keep adding to it. If anyone wants to give me some of their recommendations I would like that.
